Woosong General Education Curriculum

To attain the aforementioned goals, the Woosong College of Liberal Arts operates the following curriculum. Established in 2018 to foster core competencies (7-core), it is divided into core courses and intensive focus courses.

  • The blue section (①②③⑦) is composed of basic academic courses and is mandatory for all students. (Basic SW and Intensive SW are taken in order and open to students of all years.
  • Students take “Self-Discovery and Vision Exploration” in the first semester of their first year.
  • “University Writing” and “Scientific Writing” (with personal guidance and feedback) are three hours a week and two credits. “Speech and Debate” is two hours a week and two credits.
  • Students take more than nine elective credits from the three areas in the pink section (④⑤⑥). (We recommend that students do this in their second or third years.) These three areas together are called “Academics and General Education.”
  • Students can elect to take courses outside these areas, but areas (3), (4) and (5) can be designated by departments as a mandatory special curriculum. (These three areas together are called “New General Education.”
